The speaker is Dr Shannon Hampton, who works at the International Ocean Institute, where she coordinates the course in ocean governance for Africa and responsible fisheries training for small-scale fishing communities.
This year’s theme is Under the Sea.
The evening will include a Brazilian steak house style dinner, live dancing and musical performances.
The tickets are R220 and, in keeping with the California theme, will include the cost of delicious American-style burger and chips.
Salads will be on sale at R30 per person. Please bring your own meat.
Food from the USA, India, Uganda, Poland, Italy and South Africa will be served.
The dress code is smart casual (black and gold).
The three-hour show includes a traditional British pub supper of bangers and mash, served with gravy and mushy peas.
There will be cakes, books, a white elephant stall, gifts, pancakes, bacon and egg rolls, crafts and much more on sale.
