They learn to step out of their comfort zone and achieve their full potential, preparing for roles in a globally connected world.
Maritzburg College focuses on the intellectual, physical, social and emotional lives of boys and seeks to build men with good character and help each boy live an honourable life.
Pupils are united by a special bond of brotherhood which continues well beyond their school-going years.

Umdoni Christian Academy (UCA) has been offering the Umdoni community a personalized system of instruction with a individualized, mastery-based, biblical approach to education from preschool to grade 12 for over fourteen years. As of 12th September, UCA has been approved by Cambridge Assessment International Education to offer its world-leading Cambridge programme.

UCA will be offering the community the Cambridge Upper Secondary programme which leads to Cambridge IGCSE (the world’s most popular international qualification for 14 to 16 year olds) as well as the Cambridge Advanced programme, which prepares students for university and higher education, and leads to Cambridge International AS & A Level qualifications.

Every year, nearly a million students from 10 000 schools in 160 countries prepare for their future with Cambridge programmes and qualifications. Success with Cambridge often gives students admission to the world’s best universities – in the US, the UK, Australia, Canada, Germany and beyond.

Michael O’Sullivan, Chief Executive of Cambridge Assessment International Education, said: “We are delighted to announce that Umdoni Christian Academy has joined our global community of Cambridge schools and we look forward to a long and productive relationship with them.”

Together with our tried and tested educational methodology where value based, individualized, mastery based education which is paramount to our school is offered, we now have a fully recognized qualification for all our students”.

About Umdoni Christian Academy (UCA)

UCA has been operating in the Umdoni Community for 14 years using the ACE methodology of Value-based, Independent, Mastery learning from Preschool to Grade 12. With the ever- changing educational landscape our grade 12’s have been required to enter South African universities through the Senates Discretionary route as our curriculum does not follow the exam centered approach.  Through our association and accreditation with the British Council and Cambridge International, our students are well equipped to write the Cambridge IGCSE (International General Certificate of Secondary Education) and AS (Advanced Subsidary Level) /A (CIE Advanced level) levels.

Children thrive in an enriching environment

When Michelle Rowlands purchased Tiny Town Play Centre in October 1987, there were three staff members and 35 children.
Due to the increased demand for quality care and school readiness programmes, the school now celebrates 31 years of moulding the minds of children.
“The school has grown steadily over the years and today we have 14 staff and 92 children,” said Michelle. “We are extremely fortunate that each and every staff member has a passion for children. We offer a loving environment and quality day care where children are under adult supervision at all times.”
The school takes babies from three-months up to Grade R and aftercare is offered for those with younger siblings.
A school readiness programme is introduced at the age of three and progresses up to Grade R.
“The day starts at 7am with breakfast. Each week there is a varied learning programme following a different theme which includes cognitive and perceptual development, physical education, language and life skills,” she said.
“It is important for children to interact with others and we encourage them to participate in fantasy and free play outdoors. The children can also take extra activities such as Playball and GymboKidz.”
“Mid-morning there is juice and a snack. At lunch time the children sit down and eat a balanced cooked meal and at 3pm they get a sandwich and a cool drink.
“We are open at 7am and close at 5pm Monday to Friday,” she added.
It is important for children to receive quality pre-school education and Tiny Town Play Centre helps prepare young minds for the day they go to ‘big’ school.
Enrol your child today.
