The tournament was sponsored by Halfway Toyota Shelly Beach and was played at the Port Shepstone Country Club last weekend.
The Southern KZN league team beat Midlands 10-2 at Southbroom Golf Club last Sunday. The local team comprised Gavin Sole, Jason Gilliver, Graham Fabricius, Robert Mavundla, Elvis Khawula, Gary Purtell and Jarrod van Wyk.

The home team ran out 87-0 in their most one-sided victory of the year. Men of the match were Brendan Rademeyer and Donovan Horne.
This meeting was a little different. Besides the Retro racing guys having their own races the feature event of the day was the KZN road racing endurance team challenge. The teams were made up of 2- and 4-wheel vehicles. Each class had their own 30 minute session with the most consistent team being declared the winner. The winners of this event were Barry Liggins in his Dart, Liaan Smit on his KTM motard and Clinton Massey-Hicks on his Rokkit 600 Honda CBR.
There was a superb turnout for the flag-raising at the club last week, with Ray Nkonyeni Municipality mayor Cynthia Mqwebu the guest of honour.
Distances included a 10k, 21k and 48k run amid some beautiful scenery.
Hundreds of runners and walkers from far and wide took part in this year’s 48km, 21km and 10km race.
The bowling club had honorary members Felicity Howe and Josie Stonebridge, both well into their 90s, blow out the birthday candles.
The local team dominated affairs and have now gained promotion from the Level 2 Challenge League for next season.
