Cash-in-transit heist in Hibberdene

ARMED robbers staged a daring cash-in-transit heist at a shopping centre in Hibberdene last Sunday while security personnel were transporting cash into their van.

Police spokesman Lieutenant-Colonel Zandra Wiid said a security guard was exiting the supermarket, pushing a trolley with six boxes containing cash at about 8.30am when the robbers struck.

“He was approached by four men who held him at gunpoint. They disarmed him, took  the money boxes and fled,” she said.

A robbery-in-transit case is being investigated by the Port Shepstone Directorate of Priority Crime Investigation.
