Huge bouquets to members of the fire department and law enforcement who worked long into the rainy night last Thursday. According to Cassandra Lines, a massive bougainvillea plant had collapsed outside her house between Clifton and Bend Roads, taking a lot of the bank with it and blocking most of Rethman Drive. The first warning was posted by Leanne Galloway on the WhatsApp group at 5.48pm. Cassandra reported that members of the fire department and law enforcement were still onsite at 9.59pm cutting, winching and clearing sections of the huge climber.
Well done Ruben!
Gail and Gordon Mitchell received wonderful news recently. Their grandson Ruben Mitchell, who was awarded a bursary to study at Michaelhouse four years ago, has been appointed prefect for his final year in 2019.
Please remember to place recycling bags out on the same day as household refuse collection. No need to sort recycled goods – they can be mixed in the same transparent bags, usually obtainable at JB Licencing (at JTV Umtentweni) and Homemaker’s Hardware in Sea Park (at the moment there are none available). If for any reason recycling bags are not collected, please report this to Mandisa at [email protected] and she will notify the relevant person in charge. You can also contact your ward councillor.
Dianne and André Prepok warn readers that there is a scam on the go on bank accounts. Apparently a false debit order for R99 is created with the reference ‘UPS NCONNUPS15’. The couple noticed this on both their accounts at different banks! Others readers have found this as well, so please check your accounts, in case this has happened to you.
Festival of light
Glenda and Marcel Schutgens attended the Diwali show at the Marburg Sports Complex last Saturday night. They thoroughly enjoyed the experience, even with the few hiccoughs experienced which were beyond the organisers’ control. The fireworks display was amazing.
