With this in mind, the school hosted 1 500 school pupils (primary and high) from across the province during this Easter holiday. The pupils played various codes of sport including rugby, netball, soccer and hockey. The sportsfields of Port Shepstone High and Creston College were utilised for the many games.

Rugby was in full swing on the grounds of Port Shepstone High.

Rudi Steyn (former Proteas opening batsman and coach at Sportweni) told the Herald that this is the 44th year of hosting these sports courses on the South Coast. “A pupil who seizes the opportunities in this sphere of school life will feel the benefit in all other areas, while establishing a lifelong pattern of healthy competition and physical fitness,” explained Mr Steyn.

Qualified coaches were responsible for the efficient execution of a large and varied sporting programme.
