Armed with gloves, rakes and spades, Scouts and Cubs together with their parents gave the 1st Margate Scout Hall some TLC by cleaning the interior and exterior of the building and its surroundings last Saturday.

Troup Scouter Chris Pieters (back) gives the Scouts a hand. They are (from left) Nicholas Morton, Robyn Pieters, Jared Oehlerking, Andre Roets with Kaylen Peters in front.

Troup Scouter Chris Pieters said that he is very grateful to the young Scouts and Cubs for their sterling efforts in tackling the clean-up of their clubhouse. “I think it’s very important work. If you don’t do these things they won’t get done,” explained Chris. “It’s fulfilling work. You feel like you’ve done something that’s meaningful.”

After the heavy work cleaning up, the Scouts and Cubs returned to the clubhouse where they cooled down and enjoyed cooldrinks and lunch.

Ready to clean the building are (from left) Karen di-Sante, Lerina Abercrombie, Clayton Abercrombie, Stephanie du Preez and Richard di-Sante.
