Help the hand that feeds

The annual Bread of Heaven charity run is set to take place this Saturday, October 14 at Port Shepstone Senior Primary school. The fund-raising event is a 5km fun run/walk.

Adults to pay R50 and children under 13 pay R20. Each ambassador runner is expected to raise a minimum of R500 by way of sponsorships and donations.

Remember one does not need to be an ambassador runner to raise funds. Funds can be raised and handed to the Bread of Heaven organising committee.

The feeding scheme is operated by a team of volunteers who, on a daily basis, prepare sandwiches for the children and deliver them to nine schools in the area. Currently over 750 needy and destitute schoolchildren benefit from the feeding scheme. The organisation gets no funding whatsoever from the government and relies heavily on public donations, business sponsorships, small grants-in-aid, voluntary contributions and local fund-raising drives such as fun runs, raffles and tuck shops. For further information on the run contact Pastor Reggie John at 082 8227399 or Jo Naidoo at 076 6192265.
