OPINION: ‘Dangerous storm debris left to rot’

Broken tree trunks and limbs lie strewn on roads and verges in Umtentweni, posing a danger to motorists.

At a fairly busy three-way intersection in Umtentweni, trees came down in the storm of September 16 and three weeks later nothing has been done by the municipality to cut and remove the aftermath.

They are a danger to motorists because they are in the road not on verges. Residents have adorned tree trunks with white plastic bags as warnings.

Requests made to the municipality to deal with this and other verges still covered in storm debris have been ignored.
