Sassa card holders warned to be wary of fraud

SOUTH African Social Security Agency (SASSA) card holders have been warned by the South African Police Services to be wary of people claiming to be SASSA officials  busy with card renewal processes.

According to Port Shepstone Cluster spokesman, Captain Vincent Pandarum, the ‘fake’ callers request confidential information such as ID numbers, card numbers and PIN numbers.

“SASSA card holders are advised not to divulge such confidential information over the phone, especially PIN numbers, which should under no circumstances be given to anyone else, not even a SASSA official.

“Everyone should be vigilant especially the elderly,” said Capt Pandarum.
