STOP human trafficking – join the walk


HUMAN trafficking is a real problem and it can happen to you or someone you know.

Join the Umgeni Community Empowerment’s 4th Annual Stop Human Trafficking 5km Awareness Walk taking place on Saturday, September 23 at the Green Hub, Blue Lagoon (31 Stiebel Place, Blue Lagoon) from 8:30am (walk starts at 10:00am).

Everyone is invited.

According to event organisers, the dual purpose of this event is to raise as much awareness on human trafficking as possible and to raise much needed funds for the running and upkeep of the crisis centre, Shiloh House.

This centre is used to accommodate and rehabilitate victims of abuse, domestic violence, and human trafficking survivors.

Entry fee is R70 an d children under 12 enter for free. This year’s event will be emceed by Dave Guselli.

Walkers will get a chance to meet, walk and take pictures with special guests Simara Moodley (Miss Junior South Africa 2017 & Miss Durban 2015), rugby icon Patrick Lambie and human trafficking expert and HHPPB Provincial Task Team member, Dr Monique Emser.

“The event will showcase Harley Davidson , roller bladers, motor cycle clubs, performing artists and food stalls,” says event organizers.

The kiddies corner will be filled with mascots, jumping castles, face paintings, colouring books and games. Childrec will be under safe supervision and will also taught about “Stranger Danger.”

Tickets can be purchased at UCEC or at the Green Hub  16 Mona Road, Durban and also at the Green Hub (31 Stiebel Place, Blue Lagoon)
