Walk in the park for golfers at Southbroom Golf Club

CLEVE Walker made a welcome return to the winner’s podium after a shoulder injury lay-off at the Casa Toscana Restaurant betterball at Southbroom Golf Club last Saturday.

He teamed up with Gary Purtell to win on 47 points.

Runners-up on 44 points were Malcolm Moorley and Alan Woods, counting out Geoff Skelton and Bruce Matthew.

The women’s section was won by Cleve’s wife Julie and her partner, Allyson Thomas.

They scored 43 points, to win by one from Janet Humphrey and Jan Germs, as well as Karin Asbock and Irene Schanda.

Peter Volck and Paul Lawson won the men’s competition at Southbroom Golf Club last Wednesday on 43 points.

There were three pairs on 42 points, namely Stuart Janvier and Piet Joubert, Geoff Skelton and Osie Osborne, as well as Gordon Moody and Kerry Fielden.

In the women’s section, winners on 43 points were Jan Germs and Eileen Neilson, counting out Irene Schanda and Mari Fielden.

Third place on 42 points went to Jackie van Eeden and Lynn Doveton.

The Chicken Run last Friday was won by Gordon Moody on 17 points, counting out Chris Miller and George Haynes.
