When the Herald investigated the popular pool’s state last week, work to repair the leaks was indeed taking place and a pipe was seen draining stinking, stagnant water out of the pool.

Simon April, spokesman for Ray Nkonyeni Municipality, recently told the press that an amount of R800 000 had been set aside in order to address the swimming pool’s ‘leaks challenges’ and Royal Haskoning DHV Engineers had been appointed to do the repairs.

Local businesses, which rely on the pool to generate an income, welcomed the positive developments to the facility which has stood out of action for more than a year.
