New Community Services HOD is appointed at RNM

Newly appointed head of Ray Nkonyeni Municipality community services, Mthandeni 'Bright' Ndwalane, looks forward to bringing change in the department for the next five-years.

VERGE cutting, clean beaches and community safety are on the top of the list for newly-appointed Ray Nkonyeni Municipality head of community services, Mthandeni ‘Bright’ Ndwalane, who laid out his plans for his new position during the monthly council meeting held at the municipality’s council chambers on Tuesday.

Mr Ndwalane’s plans include shaping up the department and making sure services such as street lights, traffic, crime prevention, fire and rescue and beach management are delivered to concerned communities.

He has been acting in the position for almost a year and his background includes heading the corporate services department at the former Ezinqoleni municipality and Ugu district municipality.

Having completed a BProc and LLB degree at the University of KwaZulu-Natal, he also holds a Executive Leadership Municipal Development Programme certificate from the University of Pretoria.

A self-confessed sports fanatic, married with three children, Mr Ndwalane also plays social soccer and is a member of a gym, where he never misses an aerobics class.

Council collectively confirmed his appointment and wished him the best of luck. He will take up office from Tuesday, August 1 for the next five years, depending on his performance.

Speaking to the Herald, Mr Ndwalane said he hoped to bring about change and ensure RNM communities received better services from the municipality.
