Top speakers on the programme at nut farmers’ day

LOCAL macadamia nut growers are invited to join Green Farms Nut Company and expert guest speakers from the macadamia industry at a Macadamia Nut Farmers Day at Burndale, Umhlali on July 26 at 10am.

Peter Goede, a biological nutrient specialist from Profert Fertilizers will present evidence of dramatic yield increases. Stephan Schoeman, an independent agronomist consultant will discuss the phenology of macadamia nut trees.

Farmer Rassie Luus from Braemar Nuts Farm will inform guests how to achieve one of the lowest unsound percentages in the industry.

Eugene Kalafatis will discuss helicopter spraying and Mynard de Bruin will talk about GP5 spray rigs, both of them looking at the latest developments and benefits of crop spraying.

James Botha will talk about Manitou products and Graeme and Jill Whyte of Green Farms Nut Company will provide key market updates and will talk about what to expect for the remainder of the season.

There will also be a question and answer session.

The farmers’ day will create opportunity for farmers to connect and learn about industry innovations to increase crop yields and profits.
