Putting the pieces together at South Coast Hospice’s mosaic workshop

A MOSAIC workshop, presented by El-Maree van Zweel of the Mosaic Association of South Africa (MASA), took place at the South Coast Hospice training centre last Saturday.

The project theme included cutting flowers, trees and leaves.

El Maree said that mosaic courses, classes and workshops are becoming quite popular.

“Try a half day, one day or weekend mosaic course. Basic mosaic making techniques include selecting a base, using nippers, cutter and hammers correctly, designing the shape and colour, grouting and cleaning and finishing off.”

“Making a mosaic out of glass, ceramic or stone is extremely enjoyable and taking home your very own mosaic to display in your home or garden is a treat!”

Funds raised through this project will go toward the Kingfisher House inpatient unit.
