Sheppie High and Suidies battle it out

SHEPPIE High hosted the derby day between PSHS and Hoërskool Suid-Natal last Saturday. Netball, hockey and rugby matches were played and the atmosphere was festive as pupils proudly displayed school mascots, face paint and banners while entertaining spectators with war cries.

While the two schools competed enthusiastically, they remained good friends and the cameraderie between them was inspiring. The junior team matches were tightly contested and the PSHS U16A team won 11-9. The first team match was exhilarating and Sheppie High lost 25-24 in the final seconds of the game.

Junior hockey girls played hard to secure their wins and the first team won 3-0. The junior rugby teams displayed excellent sportsmanship and the final game of the day was the first team rugby match where Suidies emerged as the ultimate victors. It was an enjoyable day for all involved.
