REMANDED back into police custody following a brief appearance in the Scottburgh Magistrate’s Court on June 5, two shoplifters are due to appear in court again on June 14.

Chatsworth residents Donavan (27) and Samantha Pillay’s (30) next appearance will be for a bail application hearing; however, it might just be that bail will be opposed.

Sources have told the Mail that Mr Pillay not only has around 15 outstanding warrants for his arrest but that he has also been arrested nearly 90 times, in most cases as a result of shoplifting. The decision to oppose bail however resides with the court.

It is alleged that the couple was apprehended by Woolworths security at Scottburgh Mall on Friday, June 2 around 4.30pm for the theft of six golf shirts.

The duo were arrested and charged with theft by shoplifting. The case, which was registered by the Scottburgh SAPS Detective Service, is being investigated by Detective Warrant Officer Peter Hattingh.

The SAPS will be profiling both suspects to determine if they are wanted by police for further crimes.
