Samantha shines at prize-giving awards night for Blue Ocean Aquatics swimmers

Champion: Things are looking up for Samantha Labuschagne.

BLUE Ocean Aquatics swimming club recently hosted its annual prize-giving event where many of its registered swimmers obtained awards for their hard work, dedication and improvement.

Age group winners for club champs 2017. Girls: Under 8 – Caitlin Hilder and Payton Love, U10 – Gemma Allchin, U12 – Milla Drakopoulos, U14 – Nelzaan Strydom, U16 – Tamara Venter, Open – Samantha Labuschagne, Junior Victrix – Milla Drakopoulos, Senior Victrix – Nelzaan Strydom.

Boys: Under 8 – Nabil Bejia, U10 – George Annandale, U12 – Marnu Koekemoer, U14- Ricardo Carthew, U16 – Keytin Vorster, Junior Victor Marnu Koekemoer, Senior Victor Keytin Vorster.

Merit certificates were handed out for 100 percent club night attendance, regional and national championships where swimmers made finals and medalled at the various national events.

The award time improvement at club nights went to Olivia Hulley and the most improved swimmer at KZN galas award went to Milla Drakopoulos.

Swimmers recognised for improvement, dedication, perseverance and general spirit.

Best open water senior and best 3km open water – Tamara Venter. Most dedicated – Marnu Koekemoer, Milla Drakopoulos and Hannah Scott. Perseverance – Tharien Venter, Kyle Solomon, Wine Koekemoer and Ricardo Carthew. Most improved – Aruhi Mohansha, Thando Ndamase, Olivia Hulley, Jethro Rolfe, Nelzaan Strydom, Keytin Vorster. Most improved at galas – Milla Drakopoulos, Marnu Koekemoer. Most promising – Gemma Allchin and George Annandale. Spirit awards – Amber Vorster, Marnu Koekemoer, Michelle Kretzschmar. Jeremy Lithins Trophy – Samantha Labuschagne. Best junior – Milla Drakopoulos. Best overall – Samantha Labuschagne.
