Insiders claim that Gamalakhe, (Nkulu area) Ward 25 ANC councillor, Simosakhe Nyawose, lost control of his vehicle and smashed into the municipality’s boundary wall at 10 Connor Street in Port Shepstone.

His driver was apparently not with him at the time so he decided to jump behind the steering wheel.

“I have never seen him drive. I’m not sure whether or not he can drive  because he is always driven by his personal driver,” said a fellow councillor.

Parking bays including the municipal manager’s, were damaged as a result.

RNM spokesman Simon April, confirmed the incident.

Speaking to the Herald, he said: “At about 3.20pm on Tuesday, a councillor lost control of his vehicle, which bumped and damaged the municipal retaining wall. Law enforcement officers were called to scene and necessary statements were taken.”

Mr April added that a proper investigation would be conducted.
