WET weather and muddy terrain made for an exciting final day in the KAP sani2c race, which finished at Scottburgh’s main beach last Saturday.

Candice Lill (née Neethling) of Oribi, and her partner Vera Adrian, racing for dormakaba, staged a spectacular comeback to claim the women’s spoils.

They were helped by some bad luck regarding mechanical problems from the Valencia pair who led at the start of the final day.

But that’s sport.

“Candice and I have become such a good combination because we are both technically really good and we compliment each other,” said Vera.

“We were strong and rode well together in some really tough conditions. It was great to win this year but it was a really tough day for the Valencia ladies and you never want to see others have problems like that,” she said.
