Drugs and stolen property found at taxi rank in Port Shepstone

PORT Shepstone SAPS is closing in on those selling drugs and stolen property at the Port Shepstone taxi rank.

Last week a 44-year-old man was arrested at Port Shepstone taxi rank by Constables Mzakwe Makana and Lee Frost from the Public Order Policing Unit (POP) unit.

“He was in possession of a set of new speakers he could not account for and was charged with possession of suspected stolen property,” said police spokesman, Lieutenant-Colonel Zandra Wiid.

Police from the Crime Intelligence gathering unit in Port Shepstone were conducting an intelligence-driven operation in the taxi rank, when they found 224 heroin capsules and 40 Mandrax tablets abandoned in a plastic container.

The value of the pills is estimated to be about R11 680. No arrests have been made.
