SOUTH Coast residents are invited to attend local events organised in support of calls for mass action tomorrow (Friday) to protest against President Jacob Zuma’s recent cabinet reshuffle and his sacking of former finance minister Pravin Gordhan.

A peaceful gathering will take place in Shelly Beach tomorrow between 9am and 11am. Although this has been organised by the Democratic Alliance Ugu (DA) Constituency, the organisers encourage South Coast residents of all political affiliations to be part of this protest.

Anyone of any political party or cultural group who wishes to protest against President Zuma’s latest shenanigans is welcome to join the gathering, – DA Ugu Constituency caucus chairman, George Henderson.

He invited protesters to bring their own placards and to line up on the pavements on either side of Marine Drive between the two sets of traffic lights at the intersections on either side of the Shelly Centre.

The Methodist Church, Uvongo, will host an interdenominational prayer meeting at the church tomorrow at 9am. Anyone who would like to pray for South Africa is welcome to attend.

There is some confusion regarding a message that went viral on social media last weekend, calling for every citizen, regardless of race or political affiliation, to take to the streets in protest this coming Friday.

South Africans were asked to take part in a #Zumamustfall campaign and not go to work, or school or to do anything but take to the streets in protest.

Many readers have contacted the South Coast Herald about this message.

However, we are unaware of any mass stay-away planned for the South Coast tomorrow.
