Narrow escape at Port Shepstone Primary

Dangerous: The unroadworthy vehicle that hurtled down Andreasan Street near Port Shepstone Primary.

Port Shepstone Primary pupils narrowly escaped serious injury recently. After being dismissed at 2.15pm, many of the children were waiting on Andreason Street for their transport when a passing motorist lost control of his vehicle.

Pupils were forced to jump out of the way of the hurtling vehicle. Fortunately Protection Services officers were present and came to their assistance.

The vehicle was found to be unlicensed and without functional brakes.

One pupil sustained injuries to his leg but is now back at school.

Port Shepstone Primary urges all parents to ensure that their children are transported by licensed drivers in roadworthy vehicles.

Grade 3 pupils went on an excursion to Riverbend Crocodile Farm near Southbroom. The farm was beautifully shaded offering relief from the heat.

Watching a movie on crocodiles and snakes the pupils gained a better understanding of these reptiles. They were also given the opportunity to interact with a baby crocodile and got to touch it.

Some were excited while others were afraid, but all thoroughly enjoyed a day away from school.
