WATCH: DA marches through Port Shepstone to hand over memorandum to Ugu

SEEKING answers about the ongoing water outages, the DA marched to Ugu main offices in Port Shepstone earlier today.

The DA has accused Ugu of hiding things and not communicating with effectively with consumers.

“We want our water, we want our water,” chanted marchers.


According to DA Ugu caucus leader and deputy chairman of Ugu constituency Councillor George Henderson, residents were suffering and Ugu was to blame for the ongoing water shortages.

“We are tired of paying for no water or for paying for dirty water,” he said.

A memorandum was handed to the Acting Ugu Speaker, Councillor Ntombifikile Gumede,who accepted and signed the memo on behalf of the municipality.

The DA also said it was disappointed with how municipal officials had handled the recent water crisis.

The party maintains that Ugu is failing its residents, following a number of incidents that occurred resulting to a complete system failure, including the salt water crisis.
