KZN Tennis, head-quartered in Durban, is producing the Ugu South Coast Tennis Tournament at three local clubs over the long weekend from Saturday to Monday, March 18 to 20; starting at 8am at Uvongo, Douglas Mitchell and Umtentweni.

Eighty-four players from all over the province, ranging from U10, through U14 and U16 to open, will be competing for points in the provincial ranking tables.

The event follows the KZN South African Local Government Tournament held in Uvongo in December; but will be a considerably higher standard with the cream of KZN provincial tennis on display in a rare treat for local tennis lovers.

The finals will be played on Monday at Uvongo Tennis Club.

The Youth Development Programme continues to flourish with three crowded courts every Saturday morning.

All the active participants will receive attendance certificates at a presentation at the club on March 25.

This will bring to an end the first quarter schedule with coaching recommencing on April 22.

It’s pleasing to note that the Southcity School contingent has resumed activities on Friday afternoons.
