Family fun reels them in at Paddock fishing weekend

Hooked: Boet Stewart took the trophy for reeling in the biggest fish at the weekend family event at Paddock.

THIS past weekend saw yet another successful Paddock fishing competition being held.

The fun, family event which was well supported, saw participants of all ages sharing in the fun which was complemented by great weather and an even better atmosphere.

The many dams in the Paddock and Oribi areas were hosts for some great fishing!

The best prepared dam of the compo went to Deon Voigts (number 26).

Pretty in pink: The bush babies team (from left) Sheridan Kuhn, T’neal Kuhn, Leah Bunge and Ella Bunge were crowned the the best dressed team at the Paddock fishing competition weekend.

His dam also produced the most fish caught during the compo, totalling a whopping 161.465kgs.

The biggest fish caught at the weekend went to Boet Stewart who reeled in a 2.97kg bass from Dave Jenkins’ dam (number 15B).

Hartwieg du Rand caught the biggest tilapia at 2.12kgs and Yergan Gounden won biggest eel at 1.38kgs.

The fishermen this year weighed in a total of 618.639kgs of fish – almost 200kgs more than the previous year.

Winner: Jarryd Berning was thrilled to take the junior title in the tilapia class.

Winners of the various fishing categories as well as the lucky draw winners were spoilt for prizes this year as sponsors once again dug deep and sponsored some incredible prizes.

Estimation is that over R200 000 in prizes were received this weekend.
