Motorist is hijacked

A MAN (33) was hijacked along Sugarmill Road last Friday at about 7pm. According to police reports two men opened the doors and jumped into his vehicle when he stopped at a stop sign.

“The men held him at knifepoint and ordered him to drive towards Marburg,” said police spokesman, Lieutenant-Colonel Zandra Wiid.

Once at Marburg, the driver was forced out of his vehicle and the hijackers drove off.

On Saturday, Constables Sandile Mpisane, Subisiso Cele and Selby Cele acted on information and went to Mkholombe near Bhobhoyi.

They recovered the abandoned black bakkie. Investigations are continuing and no arrests have yet been made.

Police have warned motorists to lock doors and close the windows of their vehicles when travelling at night, especially when stopping at traffic light intersections or stop streets.
