ALL Uvongo residents and any other interested people are invited to the Ivungu River Conservancy annual general meeting.
It takes place at the Rotary Clubhouse in Colin Street, Uvongo, on Tuesday, August 15 at 6pm. Members are asked to bring their own refreshments and a plate of eats to share.
Although membership has always been small, the conservancy, supported by Hibiscus Rotary Club, is very active in the Uvongo area. Members take care of the Ivungu River Nature Reserve, situated on both banks of the Ivungu River upriver from the lagoon. They also maintain a rigorous alien invasive plant management programme in the reserve and along Saint’s Walk, between Uvongo and St Michael’s beaches.
The conservancy is also a member of the South Coast Conservancy Forum, which represents all local conservancies and falls under the umbrella of the KZN Conservancies Association. Members of the Ivungu River Conservancy would love to welcome people who want to find out more about their organisation.
