POLICE conducting foot patrols on Margate beach stumbled across a man’s naked body on the sand near a holiday flat at about 10pmÂ last Thursday.
“The officers tried to wake the man up but there was no response. Paramedics were called and he was declared dead,” said police spokesman Captain Gerald Mfeka.
The man, believed to be in his 30s, had no visible injuries.
The body was taken to the Port Shepstone state mortuary where a post-mortem will be conducted. Police have been unable to identify the man. Margate police have opened an inquest docket.
