THE PhumlaniM Foundation (PMF) team of graduates and young professionals made a recent educational visit to Margate Middle School.

The visit was aimed at conducting an uplifting career guidance session for grade 9 pupils, and about 109 pupils attended the session facilitated by arts and culture teachers.

The PMF team was led by its founding director and president Phumlani Mzobe, accompanied by Dr Thandeka Ngcobo (24), an IT technician Musawakhe Khowa, a creative interior designer Syabonga Sishi, a commercial pilot student Sbonelo Yeni, a passionate pupil support officer Zanele Shabane, a teacher Phaphaza Lubanyana from Bashise Primary school, and a member of the PMF, Mongezi Samkile.

The career guidance session presented an opportunity for the grade 9s to learn about the variety of courses they could choose from as they are in a critical stage of subject selection that leads to their prospective career paths.

“The foundation paid particular attention to this grade as they still have a wide variety of career choices as compared to senior classes such as matriculants who have narrowed their path range,” said Mr Mzobe.

With the pupils being in a low grade, it gives the foundation an astonishing advantage of ample time for guidance and mentorship to ensure the students make well-informed future choices academically, socially and financially.

“It was a productive day of knowledge embedded in fun. We, as the foundation, are excited to have made such a positive impact on the lives of young leaders.

We are humbled to have contributed to their growth and future prospects. We, as the organisation, have pledged to give our full support to Margate Middle School to be a beam of mentorship and growth,” he said.

As they have pledged to continually hold interventions on social ills that pupils experience due to society pressure and temptation, they will be visiting numerous schools before the end of the year.
