FANCY some ‘Turf and Surf’? No, not the kind you sit down and eat, but rather a fun run and walk.

It’s taking place at Southbroom Golf Club this Sunday, September 17, with the start at 7am.

Registration will be from 6.30am. R40 gets you an entry and an egg and bacon roll afterwards.

All ages are welcome, as are pets on a leash.

Meanwhile, the men’s alliance last Thursday was won on 120 points (some all score holes) by John Lison, Arthur Lee, Piet Joubert and Erwin Schanda.

Runners-up on 110 points were Jim Cook, Paul Lawson, Chris Miller and Olliver Ransome.

The women’s Famous Five (five clubs only) competition was won by Jeanette Peyios on 36 points.

Jeanette was presented with ‘The Iron Lady’ trophy donated by Libby Cochrane in 2000 and used in the ‘Irons Only’ competition.

However, as club design has evolved and changed over the years so the competition has become a ‘five clubs only’ event and is a great test of a player’s skill.

A most enjoyable, testing, different and fun format indeed.

The Friday Chicken Run was won by Malcolm Greenland on 22 points.
