THOSE living in Scottburgh and surrounds are growing restless at what they see as a lack of justice being meted out to two men who have recently appeared in the Scottburgh Magistrate’s Court on charges related to sexual offences against children.

They are calling on the justice system to ensure that appropriately harsh sentences are handed down to the two Pennington men.

One, charged with the distribution of child pornography, is due to appear in court again on August 28.

He was arrested in 2015 and has made several court appearances, with the case being postponed each time.

He was to be sentenced in the Scottburgh Regional Court on July 3; however, as a result of a late report by the correctional officer, this did not happen.

Members of the community have vented their frustration, pointing out that the man should have been detained instead of having his bail extended.
