OPINION: ‘True diamonds exist in our community’

DEAR Editor,-

It is with such deep gratitude for many that I send this letter to the South Coast Herald. For the nearly two months that my husband was in ICU and the High Care unit at Netcare Margate Hospital, Dr Danie Otto was instrumental in his recovery.

His dedication and the long hours he devoted, together with his ‘never give up’ philosophy, make him a truly sparkling diamond. He was most ably assisted by Dr Jaap Steyn.

To the staff of Southcity Christian Schools, we extend our warmest thanks for carrying us in prayer through these difficult days.

To those who stood by us daily and so willingly volunteered to assist in making my husband’s environment at home ‘paraplegic friendly’, our heartfelt thanks.

Sincere thanks are also extended to Keith and Trish Willett, Dave and Jill Sparrow, friends at the Beekman Group and to all our dear friends for the many phone calls, messages and visits to the hospital. True diamonds for Christ!

Lastly, we acknowledge the brilliance of the staff at Netcare Margate Hospital. Despite the negativity we sometimes come across, the South Coast remains a precious jewel – simply because of the unselfish and amazing people who live here.

DEANNA AND JOHAN MOUTON
