BANNERS REST

With no games scheduled this past week, our next sponsored competitions are the Super Spar Port Edward 2-bowl mixed trips on Thursday (today), and the 2-4-2 mixed pairs on Tuesday, May 23.

Well done to the two men’s teams on reaching the play-offs in the KBA midweek league at Margate.  Come support your teams, starting at 9am on Wednesday May 24.

The entry form for the KBA Open and Senior singles is on the notice board, with an entry closing date of June 5.

 

MARGATE BC

SOCIAL and new bowlers please note that social bowls is played every Sunday morning, starting at 9am. Dress is casual.

Ellen Cawker, Pam Cole-Cook, Ann Waugh and Ann Gibson will play Franci Philpott, Annette Payne, Sharon Scheinberg and Yvonne Bausek in the semi-finals of the Midweek League at the club next Wednesday (24th).

The Mugg & Bean women’s 2-bowl trips will be played this Friday (19). Duty: Office – Lance Marshall; tea – Treasure Philpott and Merle Davies.

MARGATE CC

KOBIE Stander, Dora Vosloo and Sandi Ferguson won the Shelly Beach SuperSpar open trips.

Runners-up were Graham Gold, with Danie and Liz van der Post. Session prize went to Clive Edmundson, Ann Church and Cindy Cano.

JL Panelbeaters novice invitational pairs was rained out.

MUNSTER

MARINERS open trips was won by Tommie and Louise Dry, with Willie Smith. Runners-up were Dice Greeff, Rick Harding and Joey Anderson.

Second session went to Piet Heunis, Rina Fourie and Linsey Humphries. Board to Serena Ziervogel. 30-club winners were: 1 Louise Dry; 2 Barry Fowler; 3 Martiens Zietsman; 4 David Lindley.

PORT EDWARD

THE Coastals Co-op mixed trips winners were John Keppler, Andreas van der Linde and Mary Warner. Runners-up were Joe Ashworth, Frank Foley and Yvonne Fillis. Session went to Rod and Mary Phelps with Bob Francis. Board to Rob Lyle.

Mother’s Day tabs was rained out and will now take place this Saturday (20th). Members to please bring a plate of eats. Mufti, theme ‘flowers’. Sundowner Friday (with a fun twist) at 4pm.

PORT SHEPSTONE

THIS week saw the last round of the Mid Week League. Eddie Fann’s team won their section and are through to the play-offs.

In the men’s section, Dave Price’s came joint second. The team skipped by Pat Maggs came third in the women’s section.

The South Coast Herald fours was won by Eddie Fann, Howard Frizelle, John Nadauld and Rastus Reen. Runners-up were Sharolyn Dacey, Susan van Rooyen, Desiree Krause and Steve O’ Moore. Session prize to Bez and Bubbles Bezuidenhout and Brian and Silvia Pirrie.

RIVERSIDE

WELL done to Cosmos Gumede on winning the club championship singles title for the third year in a row.

Nominated pairs were won by Trish Bell and Adriana Peers. Runners-up were Madge Nicolson and Sharon Smith. Shane Nienaber and Ross Ferguson won the men’s division from John Gibson and Stefan Helberg.

SOUTHPORT

THE South Coast Herald sponsored 2-4-2 played last Thursday was won by Jan and Una van Eeden. Second prize was taken by Ann Barkway and Richard Cochman with Tickey and Denise Nel winning second session.

The Dr D’Arcy men’s trips will be played today (18th) and the Geochem mixed trips this Sunday (21st).

THE BELL

A COCKTAIL party will be held this Friday (19th) at 5pm. This is for all members, to honour our medal winners from the inter-districts. Club singles will be played this Saturday (20th) from 9am. Chicken and Egg tabs in competition this Sunday (21st), followed by a braai.

Derek Celliers, Astrid Jackson and Mike Findlay won the Jaxx/Venture Inn Bottle Store sponsored open trips. In second place were Brian Rawlins, Caroline Harris and Gail Newby. Session prize went Rynier van Tonder, with Don and Shirley Rousseau.

TWENI

NEXT event is the Wimpy women’s pairs today (18th), followed by the club’s Wimpy mixed fours next Tuesday (23rd).

Fun day of bowls on Sunday, May 28, starting at 1.30pm. Members are requested to encourage non-bowlers to come along and join in the fun. Dominoes evening on Wednesday, May 31 at 5.30pm for 6pm. The meal will be sweet and sour chicken.

VILLAGE

WINNERS of the Hibiscus Retirement Village’s men’s trips were Denzil Massyn, Gary Hess and Carl Volker, followed by Dave Aitken, Oscar Pienaar and Roy Baker.

Sessions went to John Sutton, Hein Bester and Bill Reed and to Trevor Anderson, Lucas Barnard and Geoff Oliver. Gary Hess won the 50/50.

Winners of the Hibiscus Insurance Brokers mixed trips were Dereck Schorn, Maureen and Keith Roach, followed by Phillip Audibert, Sharon Smith and Gerald Crerar.

Sessions went to Denzil Massyn, Gary Hess and Dawn Oehley and to Martiens and Jo Olivier and Billy Eccles. Dave Garland won the 50/50. In-house Hyundai drawn mixed trips this Saturday (20th), tabs in by 1.15pm.
