THE second annual Golf Cup 2017, hosted by Umthunzi Hotel and Conference, Shelly Beach Rotary and Halfway Toyota was another huge success this year, exceeding the expectations of the organisers.

Eye on the ball: Graham Dickson concentrates on his game.

The event, staged at Port Shepstone Country Club last Saturday, brought businesses, sponsors and partners, golf enthusiasts and players together in what turned out to be perfect golfing conditions.

The winners for the day were Sashen Govender and Yeshvan Sampathmany on 54 points, Richard Harrison and Barry van der Veen in second place on 45 points and Stephan Egbert and Anne Egbert third on 45 points.

Rotary assistant district governor Gavin Jepson said this, their second such event was a great money spinner and would assist hugely with their many community projects.

“It brings the club and the wider community closer together and it helps to raise a bit of money for some good causes as well. That can only ever be a good thing,” explained Gavin.

Hopeful: Jimmy Parsons, after hitting his ball on the road, hopes to get back on the greens.

A lot of work went in to putting something like this together. “We’d like to thank all of those businesses and individuals who have played their part along the way.

On the fairways: Peter Stoppel has a steady hand.

The reward for us all was to see everyone out on the course enjoying themselves and that was certainly the case on the day.”
