Islamic School swimmers shine

PORT Shepstone Islamic School’s swimmers caused more than a splash at the AMS Provincial swimming gala held in Durban last Saturday.

Despite the school not having an in-house swimming pool and under the mentorship of Zuber Khan and Sooraya Hanief, the committed swimming team persevered and scooped an impressive 14 medals.

Waheeda Bux (U17) placed first in backstroke and Azhar Dindar came first in freestyle and second in breaststroke. Bilal Bux logged the fastest time in freestyle and came second.

Swimmers Nabila Bhaiyat (backstroke and butterfly), Maryam Kadodia (breaststroke), Zainub Dhai (backstroke), Usaamah Ganie (backstroke) and Umar Farouk Desai (breaststroke) all took third place.
