Good news for babies and staff at Port Shepstone’s El Roi Baby Home

The children's nursery at El Roi Baby Home will be given a new look.

THE El Roi Child and Youth Care Centre in Port Shepstone serves as a place where abandoned babies can be received and cared for.

El Roi falls under the covering of a partnership between the Genesis Trust and the Margate Doxa Church. The Genesis Trust is the non-profit outreach programme of the Norwegian Settlers’ Church, which seeks to serve those in the community infected and affected by the HIV/Aids pandemic.

The El-Roi Baby Home is soon to receive a much-needed makeover.

Renovations are expected to start on March 1 this year, and include a total revamp of the entire home from new kitchen and bathrooms, to painting, tiling and a modern CCTV monitoring system (required by law).

All building materials, along with curtaining, furnishing and appliances have also been supplied through generous local sponsors.

The project is being spearheaded by Shirley Ross, an extremely passionate volunteer at the centre.

Shirley, working alongside the Genesis operational manager, Joelien Rosslee, is looking forward to offering these precious babies a home that is functional, safe and a place where they can receive the care they so desperately need.

The kitchen is expected to be revamped with new furniture and appliances.

All of those involved in the running of the centre would like to take this opportunity to thank all the donors and organisations which have taken part in this most worthwhile venture.

In order to bring the project to total completion Shirley and Joelien are still in need of further equipment.

They need light fittings, crockery, cutlery and a new laptop computer with a laser printer.

If you are in any way able to help to fulfil the dream of completing the centre, contact Shirley at 083 2392401.
