New municipal logo revealed

IT’S OFFICIAL – the logo for Ray Nkonyeni Municipality has been endorsed.

By unanimous decision, council approved the much anticipated logo and its colours after its processes were put on hold for some time.

At a council meeting held at the Port Shepstone Civic Centre on Tuesday this week, council resolved, from three options presented, that the new logo with green, ocean green, gold and black colours be used.

Speaking at the meeting, municipal manager, Max Mbili said the new logo represented the following:

* A shield – representing the history of both the former Ezinqoleni and Hibiscus Coast municipalities;

* Waves – illustrating the fact that the municipality was known for its beaches, which have become an attraction for

holidaymakers;

* The sun – representing the weather South Coasters enjoy throughout the year;

* A dove of peace – because Ray was known as a ‘peacemaker’.

“Council believes that this logo’s theme, corporate colours and motto will carry the aspirations, direction and the vision of our municipality forward,” said Mr Mbili.

He added that processes of promoting the new brand would start immediately.
